Dome History
The Law Dome was built in 1976 for Lloyd Sass, the owner of Columbia Optical, as the corporate headquarters. The Law Dome is a geodesic dome designed by Buckminister Fuller as a structure that has no load bearing walls and could be quickly constructed in several days. Our building houses offices, conference rooms and meeting facilities. The Dome was built as a commercial structure and is locally well known, as it was an architectural wonder upon its construction in 1976. The Dome is spacious and has great ambient light with a number of windows and skylights. With its high ceilings, measuring twenty-three feet at one point, there is a warmth and pleasant feeling throughout the building. The acoustics are wonderful. Many have passed our building because it is one block from the Tacoma Mall and wonder how comfortable it is on the interior. We welcome you to stop in and visit our offices. We look forward to your visit with us at The Law Dome
