What To Expect
For each of our auto accident clients, we hold an initial consultation,
send letters of representation, then closely monitor our client’s
treatment and progress, communicating with insurance adjustors and investigators
and make sure all deadlines are met.
Once treatment is complete, or the client has reached a plateau in his
or her recovery, we gather all the relevant medical records and begin
negotiations with the insurance companies, the at-fault driver and other
potentially responsible parties. We know how to challenge insurance
company attempts to downplay the extent or cause of injuries and fight
to ensure that the injured person is fully compensated.
If negotiations fail, we pursue litigation, including participating
in mediation, arbitration or trial to reach a favorable resolution.
If You Are Involved In An Accident
1. Call an ambulance for anyone seriously
injured.
2. Secure names and addresses of all persons
in the other car.
3. Be sure to obtain names and addresses
of all witnesses.
4. Obtain the license number and State
registration of the other vehicle.
5. Measure any skid marks made by either
vehicle.
6. DO NOT ADMIT RESPONSIBILITY, nor sign
any statement except for your insurance company’s claims representative.
7. Comply with State Laws by filing any
required motor vehicle accident report and send a copy to your insurance
company.
8. DO NOT DISCLOSE YOUR POLICY LIMITS
TO ANYONE.
9. Report the accident immediately to
your nearest insurance company claims representative or to the company’s
home office.
Personal Injury Protection Coverage (PIP)
PIP is coverage provided by your auto insurance policy to pay your medical
expenses related to an auto accident. Although PIP is very important
insurance coverage, many individuals decline PIP coverage in an attempt
to save money on their auto insurance. We believe you should never
decline this important coverage. When you are in an auto accident,
there is always a chance that the responsible party will not have insurance. Even
if they do, it is rare that their insurance will immediately pay for
your medical treatment as you need it. Far too often, injured people
cannot obtain necessary treatment because they do not have insurance
to cover the medical bills. PIP addresses this problem and will
pay for accident related treatment up to the maximum policy limits you
have purchased. Minimal PIP limits are $10,000. If possible,
we recommend obtaining PIP coverage limits greater than the minimal $10,000
because medical bills can accumulate rapidly. Call us with questions
about PIP coverage.
