Employment Security Hearings / Unemployment Hearings
In the State of Washington, the unemployment insurance program is administered
by the Washington State Employment Security Department, which provides
compensation to workers who have been terminated without cause. Employees
who voluntarily terminate their employment for “good cause” may
also be entitled to benefits. Unemployment insurance is intended
to provide temporary income while the employee looks for a new job or,
in some cases, seeks retraining.
If a terminated employee is denied unemployment benefits, or if a former
employer challenges the unemployment claim, a hearing process is available
to provide additional information and challenge employer attempts to
claim the employee was fired for misconduct, resigned without good cause
or is otherwise not entitled to benefits.
